Newsletter - April

Hey Everybody,

I don’t know if it is just because Spring is in the air or exactly what is going on but somehow I feel like I’m starting a new chapter in my life. I guess it’s because I’m taking some extra solo dates this year that I’ve never done before. I traveled this past week with Karen Peck and New River and filled in for Devin McGlamery whose wife had their new baby. It was great getting to spend time with them and sing with them again. They are still some of my best friends in the world and will always have a very special place in my heart. It was also fun to see some old friends that I hadn’t seen in a long time. We sang with Michael English, Lulu Roman, the Steeles, the Dixie Melody Boys and a lot of other great folks this weekend. It’s easy when you’re on stage with a group and have the support of everyone up there, but it’s another story when you’re up there alone and are carrying the load by yourself. But I’m excited about it at the same time.

Shirley is doing jury duty right now and that is definitely new for her. Michael is busy working for a friend of ours doing construction work this summer and really enjoying it. He’ll get a great tan, exercise and a pay check. What a winning combination. He also played on his first real recording session this past month for a group from Indiana called His Way 2 and did a great job. (Pause for proud dad moment!)

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about real ministry and what we call ministry. Galatians 2:20 talks about “living, yet not I but Christ that lives in me” and I have thought seriously about that recently. I have sung for years and have seen a great number of people saved over the years. But the thing that has been on my mind as of late is what kind of effect I’m having on my family and neighbors. Does the way I live make anyone want to follow Jesus? That has been a heavy question on my mind and I’m really trying to examine myself to make sure that Jesus living in me is what shows rather than people seeing me trying to live Him. I hope you have a blessed April and let Jesus live inside you the way he wants to. We’ll work on it together. Until next month………..
