Newsletter - June/July [Newsletter Archives]

Hey Everybody,

Well, as you can tell, I got caught in a whirlwind of work and let June pass me by without writing to you guys. It was a great month with a lot going on and that keeps life very interesting and, as you might guess, sometimes exhausting. I have been working on about 3 different recording projects for other artists at the same time and I was lucky to know my own name somedays. But the Lord kept me sane or at least as sane as I ever am and I have gone from ridiculously busy to normal busy again. God is good!

We are definitely summer people at our house and we are enjoying this summer in spite of the schedule. We had a lot of fun over the “4th of July Weekend” starting on June 30th in Gallipolis, OH. The crowd was really great at this community event and the people were incredible to sing to. I debuted my new material from the “Tribute” project. Check it out on the website. There are sound bytes to the songs (I am getting so technical). Shirley and I finally got the internet at home this week so that we can answer emails at home for the first time. We’ve actually moved in to the 90’s so we must be catching up with the rest of the world.

On July 1st, I taught a song writing seminar at the Vern Riffe Center on the campus at Shawnee State University. Michael went with me and played assistant and sound man for the day. It was a great excuse to get to have him with me. We had a really good time that day and then I sung for the evening concert in conjunction with the 50 Miles Of Heroes Celebration. There’s a picture on the site from the concert compliments of the wonderful folks involved with the festivities.

I finished up the “weekend” on Monday, July 3rd and sung with my choir at an event called “DAWG DAZZLE” believe it or not. It was sponsored by the areas largest country station, the DAWG and was a wonderful night until the heavens opened and a monsoon struck. It passed fairly quickly. We did a patriotic and gospel presentation to about 3000 people and the biggest fireworks display I have ever seen followed.

Anyway, summer is a lot of fun and I am looking forward to singing out west next month. Check out my itinerary page on the site and don’t forget to tune in to the Daystar Television Network on Monday, August 14th. I’ll be a musical guest on the Celebration program that day with hosts Marcus and Joni Lamb.

I was thinking the other day about how fortunate we are to be Americans. I guess it was because of being involved with so many Patriotic events over the weekend. God has blessed us to live in the richest land in the world both in resources and the more important things that aren’t visible to the natural eye. I find myself more thankful for those things than any of my worldly goods, even though I’m very thankful for them as well. Take a little time out of your busy summer and spend some quality time with the Lord and your family. If you do it in that order, I know it will up the value of all of your time. We’ll talk again next month!

God’s Blessings,

John Darin
