Newsletter
- May
Warm
Weather! Thank you, Lord! I told you in an earlier newsletter that
I am a fan of winter until New Year’s Day and then I’m over it.
Well it looks like here in the eastern part of Kentucky we have
been over winter for about 3 weeks. For me, that’s official. Put
up the jackets and get out the short sleeved shirts.
I
hope your having a great spring. Mine has been really good so far.
I finished my new project, FINALLY! There will be some sound clips
on the website soon that you can download so check back often. It’s
called the “TRIBUTE” and I got a chance to pay tribute to some of
my favorite songs, artists and writers. I had so much trouble choosing
songs because I have so many favorites from over the years that
I think there will have to be a Volume 2 in my future at some point.
I also started working some dates this month. I was near Owensboro,
KY with my friend Kathy Woodward in concert for the debut of her
new project on April 7th. This date was especially exciting because
a very close tornado warning sent the artists and fans down to the
basement of the auditorium for about 25 minutes until they could
be sure that it was not going to touch down in the middle of town.
I told Kathy she really was trying to “blow every one away” and
she almost succeeded. We ended up having a great night and her project
is wonderful. I also did a date with Karen Peck and New River on
April 21st in Grantsville WV at the Calhoun Middle/High School Auditorium.
It was a great crowd and a lot of fun as it always is when I get
to see my favorite group—KPNR. If you haven’t heard them lately,
you need to. They are incredible with the new multi-media presentation
they use and of course the new songs are untouchable. Brenda McBride
promoted the evening and did an outstanding job.
I’ve
had several comments about my newsletter last month. So much so
that I went back and read what I wrote. I guess we all have to take
time to examine our lives and the effect that we are having or not
having for the Kingdom of God. One thing that keeps coming to me
is that even taking baby steps in the right direction is still going
in the right direction. I recently started working out for the first
time in many years. I turned 40 and realized I wasn’t a “pup” anymore
and better do something to be more health conscious. Anyway, my
first day was pretty much a joke. I was embarrassed at myself but
I’ve kept working now for several months and I’m starting to see
progress. I’m not going to be running marathons anytime soon, but
progress nonetheless. I think the reason for slower progress sometimes
is just the fact that it’s the only way God can teach us to trust
Him. I wonder if He gets as tired of trying to teach me and I get
of trying to learn. The flesh is a tough nut to crack sometimes.
But fortunately, my spirit is willing. So I’m gonna keep at it until
I get it right. If you get a chance, drop me an email or come out
and see me in concert sometime or both. Have a great month.
Be
Blessed,
John
