"Better late than never!"
Hey Everybody,
With
summer just in front of us, there is a lot to talk about this
month. I’d promised in previous newsletters
that there were
some changes in the works and some exciting things around the bend
and I get to tell you about some of those right now. Most of you
know that I am on the music staff at Christ Temple Church in Huntington,
WV and have been for the past 3 ½ years. It is a wonderful
place to minister. Our choir is incredible and 80 plus voices strong
and our band is equally as good complete with a full rhythm section
and horn section. The music program is at a place now that I can
spend 2 days per week in the office and then be at the church to
minister on Sundays. We are beginning a big budget project with
our choir produced by Aaron Lindsey who has produced many of today’s
top praise and worship artists like Israel Houghton and New Breed,
Martha Munizzi, Lakewood Church and many others. This project will
consist largely of original material and will be shopped for distribution
nation-wide. It will be exciting to work with Aaron Lindsey and
his team. We begin mid-June.
I also just finished production on a new project for Gina Bean
who travels with Evangelist Perry Stone. She is an incredible singer
and her new project will blow your mind. At the same time, I’m
finishing work on a new project for a debut artist named Angie
Caserta. She is a name you will hear more about as people begin
to discover her music. It was a pleasure getting to see her talent
blossom with the progression of this cd. You need to hear it if
you get a chance—great stuff! My production work is getting busier
by the day and I love the process and the people that I get to
work with.
As I mentioned earlier, I am going to be spending less time in
the office at the church which will allow me additional time to
accept some dates across the country. I have felt so good about
working with the music program at Christ Temple and, at the same
time, I knew that God was continuing to bless me with songs that
were for a broader audience than just here at home. I have been
writing for Karen Peck and New River, The Hoppers, Hope’s Call,
Austin’s Bridge, Misty Freeman and more but I knew there were some
songs that were meant for me to sing and the message was meant
for me to say. The opportunity has come for me to record a new
project this year with 12 of my own songs. I have never been as
excited about doing a project as I am right now because I feel
like I have more to say than ever before and understand more about
how the Lord would have me say it.
I’ll be posting news about all of these things here on the website
so check back and we’ll stay in touch. Drop me a line when you
get a chance and we’ll chat. I can’t help but be reminded right
now about one of my favorite scriptures that says “Trust in the
Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding
but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
It’s found in Proverbs 3 and it’s good stuff to live by. He also
keeps reminding me to “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness
and all these things will be added unto me” which is found in Matthew.
Maybe you needed to hear those words today like I did.
Blessings!
John
