Newsletter - March 2010

Hey, everybody!

I intentionally waited until now just so I could say these words: It's finally Spring! Yes, we can look forward to warm days just ahead and no more weather reports of icy roads and accumulations of snow. I really am a warm-weather guy and it's almost here. Praise the Lord!

Another reason I waited until now to put out the March newsletter is that this month's news is some of the biggest of mine and Shirley's lives to date. Our son Michael is getting married on Saturday to a young lady who we already love as if she's been part of our family forever. Bridget is the girl of his dreams and the daughter-in-law of ours. She is everything we had hoped for Michael, and we can't wait for her to officially be Bridget Rowsey. They are both 23 and have purchased a house that they will move into as soon as they return from their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic.
Michael has followed his dream and calling into the ministry, and is becoming the man who God wants him to be. Shirley and I couldn't possibly be more proud. Our prayer is that they continue to walk in the favor that God has shown them already.

I've been thinking a lot about the cycles of life as we've been involved in the planning of a wedding. It seems impossible that when I was Michael's age, Michael was two years old. I even remember when Shirley found out that she was pregnant with him, and how I felt when she told me. When they handed Michael to me, I was afraid I wouldn't hold him just right, but I knew that moment that I would give my life for this little guy if I had to. Nothing else was more important than taking care of this precious, perfect little baby. He was the center of the world. Who am I kidding? He still is.

This week Michael and Bridget will embark on a journey that will build their own world. They will make their own decisions, their own mistakes, eventually have their own precious, perfect little ones, and the cycle will continue. I don't have any doubt that, with God in the center of their lives, the sky is the limit. We will be proud parents and then proud grandparents. Whoa, weird!! Anyway, wherever you are in the cycle of your life, take a little time and enjoy the moment. If things aren't good this minute, just keep in mind that it's a cycle, and "this too shall pass." God hasn't forgotten you. He never will, and He has a plan that He's working for your good. Make plans to have a great Spring. We're going to.

Blessings,

John Darin Rowsey
