Newsletter - November

When I walked out of the house this morning to get in the car and felt that cold burst of air hit my face, I thought to myself “there’s no turning back now, winter is on the way.” I love this time of year when all of the trees have changed colors and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. This year November is a little different, though. I have a big birthday hanging over my head. You know the one that is after 39………YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve decided to go ahead and embrace it because I have no reason to complain. The Lord has absolutely done more for me and my family than I could have ever asked for in these first 40 years so I’m going to be thankful and look forward to the next 40 or until he decides enough is enough and we go to be with Him. I remember thinking in my twenties that 40 was old. What a little smart alec I was! Age is only a state of mind. Age is only a state of mind. Age is only………..

Anyway, I’m looking forward to a great holiday season. I start my Christmas things next Thursday and release my new project so this is going to be a great ending to a great year. I received an email from a wonderful lady the other day who shared a story with me of losing a husband that she loved very much after only 18 months of marriage. He had passed away unexpectedly in his sleep and she found herself devastated. She shared that a song of mine had encouraged her through this very hard time in her life. It really made me aware again of how much we have to be thankful for and how often we neglect to acknowledge it. It also reminded me of how many things people around us face that we don’t know anything about. How many people do we come in contact with on a daily basis who are suffering silently? I am so thankful for good health, the health of my family, a home, a career that I love and so many other things that it would take too long to name and you would not have time to read. I hope to adopt a policy of having Thanksgiving at least once a day. I pray that this is a holiday season for you that is full of joy. Spend a little time with your family and go ahead and eat too much but just that one day. Thanks for visiting with me for a few minutes. I’ll talk to you next month.

God Bless,

John Darin
