- October
Well, I think fall is officially here. I was just commenting to Shirley
and Michael the other day how this year has been one of those years
where you get to enjoy every season the way it is supposed to be.
It was cold at the first of the year, mild in the spring, hot in the
summer and we’re starting to have a cool fall. Sometimes I don’t take
time to enjoy a day because it gets crammed with “stuff” to do. But
the Lord is teaching me some better habits as He’s pointing out some
weaknesses of mine (as they say it “hurts so good”).
Have
you ever noticed how easy it is to get caught up in doing “stuff.”
I think I am the worlds worst about that. There isn’t a single minute
in a day that there isn’t something to do. But I’m finally learning
that the Lord shouldn’t have to be fit into my schedule. If He is
my life, everything fits into Him. When I’m working on special events
for the church or a date that I’m going to be working, even if I’m
doing a recording session or working on a new song, it all has to
fit into Him—not God fit into it. I hope I’m making sense. I think
it’s all just part of learning to trust Him. I wrote a new song
the other day with a friend of mine, Chris Binion, called “He Lives
to Love.” It made me examine just how much the Lord loves us and
how He thinks about His children. When we understand how God feels
about us, I think it gets so much easier to trust Him.
Speaking
of working on a new recording session, I’ll have a new project out
by the end of November called “The Tribute.” I’ve been having a
great time recording some songs that I have wanted to record for
a lot of years by some of my favorite writers and artists. It has
a little bit of everything so if you want to know what I like, you’ll
hear it on this project. I appreciate you stopping by and visiting
with me for a few minutes. Check back next month and we’ll chat
again. The holidays are coming and there are a lot of great things
happening this Christmas season. Grab a jacket and enjoy your October.
Don’t let your days get too full of “stuff” and I’ll talk to you
next month………..
